So I never figured it out until tonight but my 67' mustang has a dual exhaust (not what I just figured out lol) and one of the pipes is in a funny position, it is shoved back and up a little bit behind the valance. I am pretty sure it has something to do with the dent in the bumper and the dent it the panel it bolts to. Now what I am wondering is, is it possible to just pull it back into place just as is without taking it off or do I have to replace the whole thing? Please any advice would be great! :gringreen

Seriously ?............... better hope Josh does'nt find this one.

Rather than pull down on the tail pipe, fix whatever is bent thats holding it up behind the valence to begin with. If you need to do something temporary, Loosen the strap holding up the tailpipe and put an additional strap along side to lengthen the strap so to allow the pipe to hang down below the valance.

For our understanding, how is it possible you just now noticed this ?

Josh finds everything, and in good time.

The bigger question I'm wondering about is you have something that is barely recognizable as a car anyways, so I'm curious as to why you're concerned about one of the tailpipes (that will need replaced anyways)? Sounds like you're due for a new bumper and tail light panel as well.

Yeah I know but for now I am just trying to get it to be drivable and restore it over a period of time. It was just something I noticed when I was taking the bumper off. And RF to answer your question I haven't really had the car that long so I am just getting around to the back end. It seems like it was just bent a little bit more where it goes over the rear end so it is pushed back, so its not recomended I just pull on it? lol

Sounds like the tailpipe has been bent or bowed by a rear ender. I don't think there's anyway youre going to 'pull it' back into place, the pipes probably bent. As mentioned your best bet may be to loosen the adjustment straps, try to get the end of the pipe where you want it and try to adjust/add to the straps to keep it in that position until you get around to the exh.
