I am having trouble with getting a firm pedel with my power brakes. everything is new and the booster was rebuilt. when the car is NOT running the pedel feels firm, when I start the car the pedel goes about half way to the floor with no resistant??? Any ideas?
The pedal is supposed to do that. Check any vacuum operated power brake system and you will find the same thing happen. It's the vacuum filling the booster that does that. As long as you have a firm pedal when the engine isn't running, you are OK. It may take a couple of pushes on the pedal to bleed off the vacuum to achieve the firm pedal feel, though.
