So one of the first things I'm going to do with my mustang on my own is suspension work. However, I don't know where to start. Is it a good idea to just get a suspension kit. I just want to freshen up and modernize the suspension so it handles corners well and is more fun to drive I'm unexperienced with cars, so is suspension work a huge deal? I'm also 16 with no money so is there a way to get some nice upgrades without killing the bank? It's okay to talk to me like I'm a baby because in a sense I am right now in this subject haha

Bigger sway bar, new front and rear springs would be a start, each will run you about 100$ give or take a piece.

Just replaceing those tired old springs with factory replacements is a nice stepup, or go with bigger and or lower springs, possibly lower profile tires for less sidewall stretch in a hard turn.

my original suspension was worn out bad, never replaced, and I daily drove it for 3 years in a row.
Just recently I upgraded to disk in front, grab a trak front and rear suspension (everything from control arms to entire steering linkage, added rear sway bar, traction bars, shocks ext. Cant just have one upgrade, every piece compliments the rest, but springs and shocks is a start.)

For starters, take a look at your shock absorbers. If they're old & weak, replace 'em.

Shop around -- you might get lucky on a set of lightly-used shocks. Craigslist, ebay, swap meets, club meets, Pick-A-Part, forum ads, etc.
