Hi,

I have a 1970 Mustang 302 coupe,

its been in storage all winter and has now come out, in March i put a new water pump in to stop it from squeeling last year, and now after driving it a little bit i decided to give it a rev, and my belts started squeeling again.

I wonder if it was because they were cheap Napa belts or if its something worse?? the only thing i need to replace but have not is the bracket for the alternator, as it has a small crack.

If anyone can help me figure out this squeeling problem please!!

Have you checked to make sure the belt is tight enough? If it has too much slack the belt will slide on the pully and make that typical squeeling noise. I think the rule of thumb is about 1/4" deflection when you press on the belt in between two pullies.
