I have a 1970 mustang with a 302 in it and just took apart the motor. cleaned it, painted it. I just put it back together and it starts, it sounds fine, but it only stays on at high RPMs. can't figure out why. if i give it a lot of gas it roars but it shuts off at idle. any ideas?

Hello JonApp,
Sounds like it could be one of several things.

First it would help to know what type size carb.

It sounds like a choke issue or perhaps a vacuum line is off.

Check the simple things like a vacuum line and let us know
a little more about the carb.

Second vaccuum line ans tart with little things. I put a new crate in my car and missed plugging a vaccum port duh.. same issue. Put a vacuum gauge on it while running. My guess something minor.
