So my dad just bought a project car, a 1971 Spring Special Mustang. But I can literally find NO information on the "Spring Special" Mustang online. The only thing I can find is a old magazine add, http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5041/5203804436_d112f23f2b_z.jpg

Can anyone tell me any info you have on this type of Mustang? How many were made, why it was made? It's got a 351 Cleveland

In April of 1971 Ford added a sports coupe with Boss/Mach 1 style hood, grille, body color bumper, stripes, wheel coverings, vinyl "Halo" roof and whitewall tires. Only 500 were made and was priced $97 over the standard hardtop at that time.

I believe it was all appearance options, hope that helps

You can get a Marti Report. I know the deluxe report shows the break down of your car (your car was 1 of so many that came this way).

65fastback, they can't be. It says that the 1971 Spring Special was produced between March and May of 1971.

Ok, I've found how many of them were made. My parents bought me a book called "Mustang Special Editions". In it is a page and 3/4 long article about the 1971 "Special Value Package", also known as the "Spring Special" or the "Sport Coupe". They made 9,003 of them, all coupes (obviously), and all engine options were available.
