Well, I am down to fixing the leaks on our 73 mustang restore job. the rear axle which is a 2.75 has a slow leak at the seal where the drive shaft connects. What is this seal called and how do I know what size to order? There are a few axle sizes like 8" and 9". How tough is it to replace this seal? What steps involved?

The other leak is at the PS box. I can get an upper seal kit online. Is this a difficult job? Any special tools needed to replace the seals?

Thanks for the input!

Can't help you much, but bump your thread back to the top. It's called a pinion seal on your rear leak. Pretty easy to change. Hopefully someone will jump in now to help you.

Thanks,
I was able to find the axle tag last night and found its a 9" axle. I've ordered a pinion seal and a P/S gear box seal rebuild kit. Hopefully the gear box rebuild wont be to difficult. If anyone has any tips let me know.:bigthumbsup
