1973 throttle solenoid question

1157 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  mrgibs121
so i figured out what was causing the engine to rev to 2000rpm idle after the gas was pressed, the throttle solenoid stick all the way out and stays after the gas is pressed. i disconnected and the car revs and runs fine... what could be causing this issue with the solenoid??

thanks

Sometimes these step up solenoids are used to increase engine speed to compensate for the load placed on the engine by the A/C compressor. When the A/C is turned on, the step up solenoid should activate.
oh i see.... my car origionally had a/c, but the previous owner removed it. so would just leaving this disconnected be ok?
