I have a 1980 302 ready to put into a 1965 mustang and i was told i can take some "emission stuff" off to gain some horsepower. The engine was out of a bronco and i heard they don't "breath" very well. Can anyone help me out and give me tips to increase my horsepower?

Take off all emissions equipment, get some full length headers, good exhaust, and if you have a little bit of a budget get a good HCI.

strip it to a long block and build it up old school like you would see in an average 60's mustang. loose all emissions stuff. they dont breath well but thats the heads more than anything but a cam change and valve train to match helps if you cant get heads. you can look at mine in my profile to help motivate you, thats for my 67 and it was a 1971 302 plain jane

The cams in truck motor are definetly a bummer but just a cam swap is not what you need. lose the emissions stuff and get a HCI setup. What is your hp goal and what is your budget?
