Need some advice on the appropriate carburetor size for the following setup:

1982 5.0 L
Stock crank, rods, heads
Forged pistons
B&N Supercharger with pulleys to maximize boost at 7 psi
B&N intake manifold
Cyclone AR1 Headers
Competition Cam (specs unknown)
Stock ignition

Is it possible to be over-carbureted? I'm currently running a Holley 750 carb with mechanical secondaries. I used to get 18-21 mpg highway before switching to the 750 carb.

Yeah, I'd say the 750 is too big. Downsize to a 650 at the largest. A 600 would probably even be big enough.

I would say a 650 would be plenty big for it. 600 would give snappy throttle response and great mileage, the 650 would give decent mileage and more power.

82 Carb

thanks for the replies. I suspected the carburetor was the major cause for my poor gas mileage. Does anyone know of a service out there that will take my carb and modify it for blower applications? I hear something has to be drilled out to make the power valve work correctly.
