I have an 84 EFI mustang that has been converted to carberated. It now has a 5.0 from a 1991 mustang installed. Still working out some bugs. It has an electric in line fuel pump that delivers 6-7 psi fuel to the carb. The pump in the tank has been removed. I want to go to a mechanical pump because the existing electric one seems to vapor lock at idle. At least I think thats what is happening. Can anyone tell me if I can bolt a mechanical pump right up up to the 1991 5.0 block without much difficulty?

No idea if the block can take a mechanical fuel pump....


i know the intank pump was bypassed on my 87 and the 351 has a mechanical pump

if i was you, get a electric pump that goes underhood and run that tothe carb

just run the line going to it now to the new pump and hook it up to a switch inside or a fuse..

Thanks for the advise. There is an electric one there now that seems to work fine except at idle for a time then sputters out. Almost like an air lock. Thats one reason I am thinking of going to a mechanical one. Any further advise is apprecitated.
