The 1986 and 1990 rears were the same 8.8 so they should swap right over.

So im thinking about upgrading my rear end to a newer one preferably 1990 8.8 rear end. Is it stronger than the rear ends on the 86's? And will it fit?
The 1986 and 1990 had the same 8.8 so they should interchange.
Cool thanks eagle!
Oh one more question how many quarts of gear oil is needed for the rear end?
should take around 3 1/2 quarts.
Dont forget to add the limited slip additive. you can get it at any local parts store
The 8.8 holds 2 qts. and a bottle of friction modifier.
what does the friction modifier do? should it be in the 7.5 rear also?
Thanks. the gear oil im using already has friction modifier already in it.
