I have an auxiliary shaft that has two damaged teeth on the gear. I am wondering if anyone has had to do this repair. My shop manual is not clear on whether you have to drop the oil pan to complete the repair. I had to leave the car at my brother’s house which is 3 hour drive away. I have three 2.3 turbo parts engines equally far away in the opposite direction. Obviously, I do not have the car or the engines here to look at. I plan on replacing the auxiliary shaft and I am trying to determine if this is a repair which will require a lift or an engine hoist. Does anyone know if a used auxiliary shaft will be ok to put in it? I would replace the shaft seal, auxiliary shaft bearings, and the distributor gear with new parts. If this repair is going to require more than a day or more tools than i can carry in my 95 gt down there, i might break down and send it to a repair shop. Also, if a new auxiliary shaft needs to be purchased, does anyone know where to get a good price? The only one I have been able to locate on the net so far is Search Results auxiliary shaft
