Let me start this by saying hello to everyone here and thanks for any feedback given if I do not reply fast enough.
Current situation I am having is a nightmare to me cause I learn by seeing so let me explain what I have gone through so far trying to get this 4 eye back on the road.
I picked up this 86 notch a week ago knowing the fuel pump was indeed bad, now i am no ASC Cert mechanic but I do like to work on things and learn as I go but reading Diagrams and such confuses my brain a lot so I try to search for Videos on problems I am having and how to's and not really any of them are helping me at the moment.
I replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter cleaned tank etc went back in smoothly fill tank with 6 gallons of gas turn key.... Nothing... no "Ford Pump Noise from tank" so I go on a google/youtube frenzie trying to teach my small brain how to figure out the issue.
Not having a volt meter probably makes this a little bit harder for me but I have a test light and I check all the places and the light turns on still no pump noise so I unplug the Inertia switch and ground the Plug that goes into the inertia switch and BAM instant fuel pump noise but it is non stop noise, now I don't know if I meant to do this or not but I was able to get the pump primed, by now I am excited so I leave the ground hooked up to the plug that goes to Inertia switch and attempt to start car over and over and over and over again! nothing I check the valve and gas spews out fast so I am good with pressure so at this moment I am still stuck!
Let me put a few side notes that Might help a pro better understand my jibberish and hopefully help me!
When I first got the car I was told the Ignition was replaced and the car drove fine then when he stopped at a stop sign it died.
So when I first tried to pick it up we jumped it and it tried to start but died like it was out of gas, when I first got the car home and I got to look over it in more detail all the wires where like Melted? fried? meaning the thick Ground to block from Battery, power from solenoid to battery and power from solenoid to starter so I replaced all of them.
anyways if this makes any since to anybody out there that is willing to help me, please teach me in a step by step process for dummies I would be extremely grateful!!!!
I would really want to see another true 4 eye on the road!
