1988 trunk car 393 stroker 373 gear c4

just bought it from a bud and it needs tires old ones are cracked (dry rot)

they are 26 8.5 15
he said he had 28 10.5 15 on it when the 456 gear was in it for 1/8 mile

the wheels are 15x7 factory aluminum

i cant change the wheels right now

so my thoughts are

26 9.5 15

or 27 10.5 15

i cant decide im looking at hoosier quick time pros

but if i got to MT et streets
they have a 26 10.50 15

thanks in advance

I loved the Hoosier QT Pros (I assume you mean the 27-10.5-15 bias ply). Use a 8-inch wheel at a minimum.

Had me going for a minute - thought you wanted to know what the NHRA or NMRA tire rules were in 1988.

10.5 are a little wide for the stock wheels and the Hoosiers are nice tires.

I always like the smaller, lighter tire myself unless you need more diameter to make up for gear. Remember the QT Pros are softer than the M-T tires....

And the Hoosier QTP's are physically larger but lighter than the M/T's. If you get a 26x10.5 QTP, the tread width is 10.5, compared to the M/T 26x10.5, which only has an actual tread width of 9.5"

I think they recommend a 8" rim so not sure how they would fit.

275/60/15 mickeys are a very good and effective tire on the street & track for those pizza cutter wheels, but I bet you will have traction issues, especially if using power adder. My 325/50/15 are a true 28/10.5 tire. running those cubes I dont know what your cam, heads, intake & power adder are, but you definately sound like you need a 28" tire w/ that gear.
