1989 Mustang 2.3L PCM Replacement

1895 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  FrankBullitt05
So, my PCM died on my '89 2.3L 5-speed. It's stock except for a cam out of a '93 4-banger.

Is there a better PCM to go to, or would it be best to stick with a stock replacement?

I don't know all of the acronyms yet. Are we talkin' about the ECU (computer, lol)? :headscratch:
I know it as the PCM (Power Control Module?), its located behind the kick panel on the passenger side of the car. Controls the ignition, fuel injectors, etc...

Not sure if its the same as the ECU/ECM myself actually... been doing some searching on that, but no answer

EDIT: OK, just found some info that looks like it is the ECU,
tah-may-toe, tah-mah-toe
Stick with the stocker. There's very little difference if any between them.
^That's what I thought, but wanted to make sure. Thanks!
