what kind of gas mileage could be expected from a 1990 5.0L 302CI mustang?

Are we talking stock or modded? Last time I checked, I get around 16-17mpg. I've only added some mild mods.

Nothing you're going to do is going to significantly increase gas mileage.

Agreed. Some things may help a little, other things will hinder it. Start with a nice fresh tune up and go from there. These cars are around 20 years old so mileage may vary! I get about 22 hwy, 18-19 around town....however, I didn't buy it for the economic aspect!! :winks

I did just this. My wife drives an 07 Honda Fit and pulls 35 mpg average.

Or you could get yourself a Jetta, which is rated at 42 mpg hwy. Diesel, of course.

well i want a cool car that gets decent gas mileage. so if a 80s-90s mustang gets 20+/- thats good enough for me...beats the extra low teens i expect from my '71 mustang coupe
but thanks for the input anyways.

Last week I averaged 30.4 MPG over a 234 mile trip at 70mph with the windows down and tires at 25PSI.

Hoping to get it on a chassis dyno in July shooting for 300+ at the wheels.
