I just got a 1990 mustang GT for free. probmlem is i drove it for about five blocks and it over heated past 250. i went home and parked it then water and coolant sprayed out of tha overflow and cracked it and tha motor was also smoking. is it a head gasket or what is the problem. please help

I dont if every parts store carries is but I kno NAPA does.Its called a head gasket leak check kit it contains a syphon tube and a blue chemical that turns colors when exhaust gas from coolant system is mixed with it.It will help diagnose a busted headgasket.

maybe the person you got the stang from put the thomostat on backwards?

Pull your plugs and take note of any differances in the plugs. Pull your thermostat like cold 23 said and make sure the pointed end was installed tword the radiator and the other end was installed tword the firewall. Check oil dipstick and oil for any milky residue.
