Hi there everyone My name is Curtis (for those of you who aren't in the intro's forums much...) I have my 91 lx coupe with a 2.3 thats dying so rather than selling my beloved car i want to swap it for something with some balls (i have a friend in the LT1 crowd who likes to rip at my car and its time for him to shut his mouth) now i have found a donor car with a manual 5speed mine is an automatic now if i swap will the manual fit right in or will i have to cut something to make it fit? The clutch pedal specifically is what im worried about also the motor mounts and the shifter!!. If anyone can help answer what could possibly go wrong here the drive train from the donor car is complete and i will be taking the suspension components and im not even sure if the radiator and front caliper brakes are interchangeable. So basically if the donor car is complete what are some things i might still need?

welllll me and my brother have both done swaps from car to car and my brother also did a conversion so i can tell you rite now that if you just swap from 2.3 to a 5.0 that itl bolt rite in but you might need to get new motor mounts and make sure to get the harness for both the computer and the tranny b/c the automatic tranny doesnt come with a reverse light. the conversion doesnt make you have to really chop ne thing just make the whole where the auto shifter was a little bigger and your going to need a new shifter boot. but all you have to do is change the pedle system and get all the parts and its pritty simple

oh and as far as the breaks go the 5.0 has bigger front brakes but the back are the same drums. iv hurd that the rear shock set up is kinda good to keep which is suprising cuz ery one wants a 5.0 set up but it actualy helps seat its self down when launching so if you dont have a good set up then just keep the 4 banger rear.

everything can be put into your 91, if you gong to run efi then you need a 1991 computer harness.you need to change fuel lines, front light harness, computer and computer harness,tank,8.8 rear is much better, also switch the 7.5 rear end brake lines(on the rear) with the 8.8 so it connects to the factory brake line on the body.the spindles up front are different for 4/8 cylinders, you will have to change the pedals. keep in mind this will take some time, it may be a good idea to take pics so you can remember where parts go. good luck

Curtis, as painful as it may be, you should just buy a complete 5.0, doing swaps is way time and money consuming, in the end it still won't be what the factory car is...I saw a 89 convertible with 5.0 and trick flow heads on Craigslist for $4000, I went and drove it and it was scary fast, so much so that I didn't buy it...bye bye LS1/bankrupt POS!
