1993 Mustang 5.0 Throwout Bearing?

check the front of the transmission, the snout part called the Bearing Retainer that the TOB rides on...there made of aluminum and over a period of time get gouged and need replacing...now there is a steel Bearing Retainer you can upgrade to, prices are @$50.00 and aval at most Mustang Performance Shops....

That sounds like a bad pilot. When the car is running down the road, the pilot is turning the same speed as the crank. When you push the clutch in, the input shaft stops spinning, thus, the inner half of the pilot is not turning while the outer half is along with the crank. The outer case of the pilot is still turning while the needle roller bearings(inside part of the bearing), is not. This is a bad pilot.

A bad throw out bearing will make noise when you push the clutch down. When the clutch is adjusted properly, you should have a 1/4" gap between the face of the bearing and the fingers on the pressure plate. This means the bearing is not turning. When you push the pedal down, the bearing comes in contact with the pressure plate and is now turning and making noise.

Yes, I still think it is the pilot. When you push down the clutch pedal, it stops the input from turning, which in turn, stops the needle bearings inside the pilot to stop turning.

The throw out bearing would make contact with the clutch fingers when you push the pedal down. If it is bad, it usually starts making noise when it comes in contact with the clutch fingers.

Like Randy said too, it could be the bearing retainer. The only way to tell for sure, is pull the tranny and inspect both bearings and the retainer.
