Hello all,

I am having a problem on my 1993 mustang 5.0 conv (automatic)

I have no brake lights. All the other lights work, just not the brake lights. I don't know what else to do to get the brake lights to function. I have replaced the multi-function turn signal switch, the fuses are all good, all the brake light bulbs have been replaced, the brake switch or stop light switch on the brake peddle has been replaced. And the battery cables have been cleaned also.

And I am having trouble getting it from park into reverse. Under the shifter there is a white piece of plastic that has a loop in it. Someone said that is a on that year of car. I have been using a screwdriver to stick into the plastic loop and then I can shift the car out of park. I also have to step on the brake peddle at the same time. And the cruise control doesn't work either.... I think that is the clock spring. light is on also ... has been for about 2-3 years.... flashes three times then two OR two then three times

I am almost sure it is a ground problem with the brake lights.
Could someone give me a starting point as to where to
look or better yet aThanks

When I bought the car in 1996 there was no glove box manual for it... so I have found the missing items from other friends that have mustangs

Thanks in advance,

Use a test light to check your ground. Pull a bulb out, back probe the black wire on the connector, hook the test light to a postivie source, and touch it to the back probe on the connector. The bulb should light up. If it does not, leave the test light hooked up and attach a volt meter to the back probe and ground. If you have 12v of drop between the black wire at the light bulb connector and ground, then you have a bad ground.

I'm having the same problem on my 93 GT hatchback. Third light on the spoiler goes on, but the two lower ones have nothing. Not exactly the best electrician, this is a huge pain. Already changed the brake light switch and bulbs and no effect. Any other suggestions? Much appreciated.

Do your turn signals work? Although my car is not a Fox, I just experienced the third brake light working while the other two were dead issue. For me, it was the electronic flasher that hooks up by the fuse box. On the Fox, I think that part is behind the glove box maybe? You can open the glove box, squeeze the ends in, and pull it so that it flops all of the way down. There should be a "flasher" over towards the radio. Can't tell you for sure or not, but I think your car still uses the round silver version of that part. On mine, it was a yellow box looking thing. Might be worth a shot since they are cheap, especially if the turn signal don't work...
