I searched through other threads on this, but just wanted to get some more opinions.

When the clutch pedal is down, there is a scratching-scraping-creaking noise from the area of the transmission/clutch. I believe that all those components (flywheel, clutch, transmission) are stock.

I just replaced the fuel pump and had the gas tank off (the day before this started). I don't know how that would have anything to do with it, but it seems like a coincidence.

Could be a bad throwout bearing.

If the noise is present when you depress the pedal, more than likely, it is the throw out bearing. If it is there all the time, whether the pedal is depressed or not, it is more than likely the pilot bearing.

Agree with heavymetal....time for a new clutch kit and be sure to have the flywheel resurfaced.

I have read many of the "which clutch should I get" discussions. What does the resident transmission expert recommend? A friend of mine likes ACT.

Also, when is it time for a new flywheel? Is it worth the money to go aluminum?

Usually it's good to resurface the flywheel when you get a new clutch.
