Hi im new to this forum stuff but i have found it to be very helpful so i made an account. anyways i bought a 1995 mustang gt like 6 months ago with a bad fuel pump and the spark plugs were shot as well. So i had that fixed right away when i bought it. I just drove it 6 hours straight a couple days ago and now its backfiring and lightly sputtering on first and on fourth a bit as well. Could the spark plugs be bad so soon again? Could it be the fuel pump starting to go out? i would appreciate anyone's help. Thanks

backfire is caused by preignition in the combustion chamber.
check and adjust your timing. its likely to be off. check your spark plug gap and are they the right heat.
good luck

Also, try cleaning the MAF while you are under the hood...cheap and easy place to start...
