1995 Mustang-Need Help No spark 5.0 HO

974 Views 6 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Farmer Jhon
My 90 5.0 HO mustang has no spark. I took it to the dyno shop to get tuned and set up drove back home parked for to days and does not wont to start. No spark is coming out of the coil, so I swaped it with one that I know that worked and still has no spark. Swap out TFI mod still no spark, found that the start signal wire that goes to the TFI has no power and I know that wont make it start. So I jumped a power wire to the start signal wire for the TFI and Still has no spark. Also has no power going to the positve side of the coil. Note I am running a msd box, its gust so wierd that every thing was working great then I parked it and two days after parking it it did not wont to start. Any help would be a great help to me.

Un hook the msd box first, hook it back stock and see. Since the Msd uses the stock wiring for power, you need to check the stock harness for power. Otherwise, it seems like the 12v source that comes from the ignition switch is lost.
I well try and hook it back up to the way its is from factory and im going to see if my msd box is no good. I have heard that the 6AL boxes go bad but this box is only 6 months old, but il get it looked at any way to eliminate any possibility.
The MSD box does fail, it's usually a diode that burns out. This happens more often when the box is under the hood, it's the underhood heat that kills them.
Go back to stock and see if it works then.
Thanks for the reply I found that the MSD box was blowing out a fuse every time i go to start it. Removed MSD box and ran it gust with the coil and started right up. NOTE TO SELF MOUNT MSD BOX FARTHER AWAY FROM HEADERS. Gust to let you guys know I have a 5.0 egine and trans from a 90 Mustang in a 79 mazda RX7. Thanks for your guys help now I need to get my MSD box repair some were.

Where was the MSD boxes ground at?
I had the MSD box grounded to the negative on the battery.
