So the stock gears are 2.73:1? What would be a good upgrade? I looked through some threads and most say 3.73:1. That seems like a lot of change. Would these hurt gas mileage much? A traction lock is a good idea as well, right?

i had 3.73 gears in mine until i gave the rear to my father. I loved them. Really added some pep to the car. Cruising on the highway at 70 i was at around 2400 rpms with an auto. Also the traction lok is a great idea

You will probably lose 2 mpg mostly on the highway. In my opinion the 3.73's are great :bigthumbsup

I run about 1800 rpm at 70 in my 5 speed with the stock gears so thats not a lot of difference.

I did a set of 3.73's and a t-lok in my 96 V6 and it is just so much more fun to drive. Even on the interstate at 75 mph we did not loose any mpg. In fact we actually gained about 1 or 2 mpg. Seems like it is just in a much better power range. Mine is an automatic.
