Well, my intake manifold was leaking anti-freeze, due to fords smart idea of putting a plastic manifold in the car. Point being, my dad and i replaced the manifold with a brand new one, we cleaned up the top of the cylinders, so that there was no dirt/anti-freeze/anything on top of it, but when we were doing this we saw anti-freeze inside one of the cylinders and there was also oil/anti-freeze inside the spark plug area. So, I got all of the anti-freeze out of the cylinders and cleaned it up, put the manifold back on and hooked everything up.

I clicked my car key about 9 times and it started up right off the bat, but it was tossing out a nasty rumbling sound and it backfired ( embarrassed to say ). I let it idle for a few minutes then drove it, it was stalling while i pulled out of the drive way, while i was pulling away from the drive way, and while i was turning into the intersection, so i figured i should head back to the house. I went ahead and sat at the light to let it idle and it was still rumbling, sounding as if it was about to stall again.. I got it back to the house and i could smell some burning, it was coming from the exhaust manifolds, but i think that was just from some anti-freeze that had splashed on it.

So my question is, what could be causing my car to act this way?
Possibly that there is something that is unplugged or contaminated fuel ( anti-freeze+gas? )?

Thanks in advance!:hihi:

if it was backfiring, sounds like you could have crossed some plug wires and/or there could still be some coolant in the sparkplug holes....

I will go check my plugs and vacuum lines and about the spark plug holes, i defiantly saw a liquid down there when i was taking the old manifold off.. so i put paper towels inside the cylinders and spark plug holes, so i didn't get any dirt in there, while i was cleaning the top of the engine off.

Thank you guys! I will be back with results =D

Well! Good news, and bad news for me.

I went down into my garage and i opened the plugs up, the spark plugs are covered halfway with a liquid, it smelt like gas/coolant. I am going to get them replaced, while they are being replaced, ill have my friend clean all that liquid out for me, along with an oil change.

The good news last =), the car started right up with no hesitation and did only a small tiny backfire, barley enough for me to hear it. The car acted like herself again, so maybe its just that i have a liquid somewhere(plug holes) it shouldn't be?

caution:
if they smell like fuel, you could have an injector o-ring problem, alot of times when transferring them from one intake to another, you'll "nick" the o-ring and cause a leak....check them out and replace any that maybe in question....

Thanks, ill go check the injectors right now! Also, i was making sure that they were put to the last of being put on, but i also think that the fuel was leaked from when i took the injectors off the old manifold. But i will go check it out :) Thanks!

Edit:

I went down and checked them out, they all seem fine. I am going to the store now to get some new spark plugs, and ill do an oil change while I'm at it.

Well, i changed the spark plugs today, actually, i only changed 6, because i have to disconnect the fuel line to get to the other 2. So i started my car up and it was great! Sounded like herself again, until i got the car heated up. I can cruise but if i push the pedal down anymore than it is, the engine shakes and vibrates the whole car, RPM's drop and the car slows down. It is great to backing up, going into first but if u shift from 3k rpm into 2nd it does the whole shake and slow down thing. Any tips to what this might be? I am going to go change out the other two spark plugs and see if that makes a difference.
Suggestions are welcomed!
