Okay sooo I haven't been on here in a while, and missed it lol...
but anyways...I was drivin my car and i down shifted to slow down just a little and it start's backfiring like no tomorrow...and then cuts off, it just kept cuttin off if I let it idle to long or rev down too long it'd cut off....So today I took off my iac and cleaned it, it wasn't that dirty...plugged it back up and it seemed fine but took it for a test drive and it started back firing again and almost cut off again...the rpms hung the dropped hard then shot up....it finally shot me the check engine light...i do have fuel pressure, oil is in it, i got my stethoscope out and made sure there was no knockin or pinging and there wasn't any....any idea's? I'm goin to get my scan tool tomorrow and see what it says but any clue's as to what I may be expecting???? Thanks!!!:wavey

Sounds like its running really rich. Could be one of your oxygen sensors or throttle position sensor. Most likely its something stupid..

did you check fuel pressure with a gauge? may be a fuel problem. fuel pressure should rise when you accelerate. if it falls, then you have a problem.

well the check engine light turned out to be the speed sensor? i dont think this could cause this problem, but i could be wrong?
speedsensor being faultful in some cases in A/T shuts engine down or when changing from (P) to any gear xccept (N)
can't asure you anything yet in manual trans though
only way is trial and error i reckon lol
