1998 Mustang V6-starting problem

i need some help with my girlfriends 1998 v6 stang. ok the problem is it takes a long time to start it cranks and cranks and cranks for about 7 or 8 seconds before it starts and the engine rocks back and forth alot while its cranking. anyone know what could be the problem? thanks for any help.

new starter maybe i acually have that problem as well try some fuel injector cleaner i think it acually works and BP's gas also has Invigorate and that cleans out the system as well

pshh dont buy from bp theyre a buncha jerks for spilling oil.. anyway.. at this point i would NOT just go and randomly change the starter.. if it sounds like its cranking right and all that try checking other stuff.. make sure your plugs arent fouled up with carbon and crap.. maybe check if youre getting the proper fuel pressure at the fuel rail its probably just a plug or two that just doesnt wanna fire when you first start up.. check the basics first before throwing money at it

+1 Check spark (plugs, wires) & fuel (filter, clean injectors) first. A clicking noise indicates the starter IS working...

Also, I think BP is overhyped as good, IMHO. I prefer Sunoco, then Turkey Hill, and then Sheetz in a pinch. :yelwacko:
