Ok has anyone ever put a 4.2l v6 out of a f150? I am looking at a 99 4.2l out of an truck and the only thing that I am really seeing diffrent is where the intake bolts on to the heads and up is diffrent! besides the ex/manifolds! I have a 99 mustang with a well tired v6 in it wit blown head gaskets and the gasket set alone is 200$ and I think that I can get this motor from my job for 300$! so I was figuring I could cut some down time buy just swaping everything off the 3.8 and put it on the 4.2l to get it in! Please let me know if anybody has done this and how did it go? Thanks Jay

A lot of people do this. I am doing this also. Try searching.

The lower intake bolts should be he same as the 99-04 3.8s since the heads are the same. Only other diff is the oil pan has a different slope on the F150. You will need to swap to a mustang oil pan and pickup or space the motor up. 2001 up Mustang pan will be a direct fit, hut if you use the early mustang pan you will have to remove the main cap girdle from the 4.2.
