Hey Y'all,

Thanks for droppin' in!

Well, I just got news that my 2006 GT will be in this week! Yahoo! I'm droolin'! I'm just starting to get into muscle cars and thought it be cool to own one. I couldn't think of a better one than to start with a STANG!

Okay, here's your opportunity to have some fun, laughs, crack jokes, cut up, and have a good time. What advice can you give me. Never had 300HP under my feet before. What can I expect?

Whatcha got?

Thanks!

Congrats on your new Stang.

My advice would be to really get to know the car well before you go trying to show off the 300hp under the hood. If its your first time with a car with that much power it can be over whelming. Especially in the rain. So maybe find a nice empty parking lot and have some fun!

Manny, The GT is just like a well built woman, a hand full. And as such, treat with respect and enjoy the ride.

The best piece of advice I've learned over the last day is remember to breathe. Thread title fits me to a T as well (in addition to this being my first ford... cant tease my old man about all the things ford stands for anymore). Good advice given here, from my exp thus far... man, this thing is a real hoot!
I just got my 05 GT last week. It was kind of an "all of a sudden" thing, I knew I wanted one, just waiting for the right opportunity.

The bottom line is this:

This car puts a smile on my face every time I sit down in it.:heha:

After driving trucks and SUV's my entire life, it a whole new driving experience. Just totally awesome on the highway, scared the [email protected]$#! out on me the first night I drove it home after dark. A lot more speed on demand than I'm used to.

Yeah and now you can swirve on the higways between lanes without the worry of a roll-over!
Get a good feel for the car first, and make sure any "passengers" abide by the attached warning.....:nogrinner

:evilchuck :naughty :eyepoppin :happyhapp :eyebulge:  :tongue :smoke: :yup: :scream: :evilchuck
My advice,

1. If you have only driven 4 bangers before (not sure what your older cars were) then hold on!

2. If you havent had a muscle car before, get your bank account ready for some activity once you decide you want more power and decide to mod.

3. Dont be stupid, the car has power, but learn how and when to use it, or you may end up in a ditch or attached to another car, so get a feel for it.

4. Have fun :yup:
Keep the traction control and ABS on and have a blast. The only accessory that might be needed is a neck brace.
Congrats on the new ride! I'm pretty much in the same situation as you.....prepare to be amazed! As far as advice goes- from one rookie to another-there is a ton of useful information on this site, as well as a ton of people willing to share thier experiences, so you're off to a good start. :thumbsup
Apologies for the multiple post- but I cannot believe how many aftermarket parts are available to bump up the HP on these cars.....this site is a great place to do research because ,obviously, you can't believe everything you read from the manufacturers, and nothing beats someone whose been there.........

When I got mine and the salesman filled the tank, at the gas pump, I said thanks and goodbye.

Left the parking lot sideways. It was like driving a car I had had all my life. You will get used to it so fast you won't believe it. In two days I felt like it had always been mine.

Practice speeding up, in a straight line, with no one in front of you.

When you go back to driving your winter beater [which is now whatever you used to drive :)] it is normal to think "Is there something wrong with this car? Why won't it go?!?!"

Also total strangers will come up and tell you they like your car. I have a Jaguar XJ12L and people only looked at that.

The Mustang gets more than glances. It encourages crowds to gather :)

Don't do like me and lose 9 points in 30 hours. That's the best advice i can give.
Invest in a Valentine V1/ Beltronics STI Driver/ Passport 8500 X50 and maybe an active laser jammer.

Or you can obey all speed laws:jester:

I hear ya.. Sometimes I randomly drive my moms Accord Coupe (4 cyl) and the thing DOES NOT move, I swear my GT will eat the thing at half throttle. Its great how quick these cars feel even when you're not really on it.
If you have the manual and like to smoke em and go sideways:what: , turn off the traction control
