To start, I need to do a little more work/research on why my 1990 2.3 cooling fan doesn't work...based on mileage of 134k, didn't see spending twenty ish on a coolant temp sensor and sending unit as a waste. Jumped the fan with 12V and it ran smooth
Still, the radiator fan or A/C won't work, and it's cold enough here in OH that it doesn't matter, plus this isn't a daily driver, so not in a big rush. The crap frozen lock actuators won't let us in but through the hatch (imagine a notch with frozen actuators ! Ugh)
We grabbed an '88 TRW module from the yard from our T-5 donor for free. Didn't really inspect it, just plugged it in for the hell of it. Not completing our due diligence, no surprise... No fan.
Reading the fail rate of these fan controls, I want to go with MG Mans external relay modifaction. Then, after comparing pics of ours to his, I'm clueless. The pics are out of our 90, and is an unmolested car to the best of our knowledge. This board looks nothing like his, plus nothing looks burnt to indicate excessive draw. Figure maybe I could bypass the board, but don't want to cut wires etc. from the harness. Just putting it out there...we have the luxury of time, and will be sure to update what we've learned. Damn lucky to have the AFM
