Hello this is my first forum. I've bee looking around on some topics that my 87 conv. has been having problems with. One problem is that the fan does not work( when i bought the car it was not installed and when i tried to install had a dead wire). Another problem I have is when i start the car its runs fine for about 5 mins or so, after that the car will begin to miss causing it to spit out black smoke and raw gas but after that it runs fine until it is shut off and started again.(Note i have replaced the plugs wires, and fuel filter already. Another problem is that the top dies not go up or down by it self when i hit the switch the pump will run but the top does not move either way. And last but not least i believe a wiring problem because my left turn signal in the front of the car doesn't light up unless the blinker is one , and the reverse lights never come on.

Thanks for reading and any comments or suggestions would be very helpful.

1987 conv. 2.3l 5 speed.

First welcome. I will try and help out.
#1 fan. There is a fan controller under the dash above the steering column. Is small and has TRW on it and probably bad or connections burn. Pictures and wiring diagram here.

#2Pull the codes and report back.
#3 On the top the power for it comes from 2 paces, 1 is fuse box and other is fuse line near starter solinoid.
#4 The lights in bumper have 2 elements in it. One for turn signal and one for parking/driving lights. One can burn out without the other. Also if having turn signal problems most time it is a bulb. Turn the hazards on and look at all lights if one does not burn replace that bulb. Maurice
