i have a 93 2.3 n/a i have been prepaing for the turbo swap but have found a 85 shovel nose that i like. it has a 79 pace car turbo motor in it i was wundering if the 2.3 block is the same as the block in my car and if i was able to swap heads to make it fuel injected and the just get the intake turbo and exhoust manifold needed plus the ecu, but i have also found a 5.0 and a 351 win. in my garadge was wundering if i should scrap the turbo idea and just put the 351 of 5.0 in it both are carbarated and have auto trans. want to know if the v8s will still bolt in and if the both can us a t-5 manual trans i know if i put the v8 in i would need a new rear and have to connect my front and rear subframs but what else would i have to do for the v8 and what would be needed for the turbo i would like your in put on bot ideas, and what all would be needed to do the auto to manual swap. thanks
to bolt the 5.0 or the 351 into that car your going to at very least have to change the bell housing and the pilot bearing for the trans. best off going with the 2.3 its original that way anyway
well look at it this way. where did that 351 come from? car, mustang truck etc? and being that its a carb setup its not gonna be to-to crazy on HP. (i assume thats what your looking for?) as for the 2.3 turbo (efi) you can easily get 300 HP out of them with a little bit of work and i believe its what 195-205 stock. (somebody else will chime in on that one) now if your all for that V8 sound then by god go with that 351 i love a v8 with a nice cam exhaust work etc etc. but for gas milage and POWER def. 2.3 turbo. as many of the guys say on here "best bang for your buck!"
oh and btw you said its a pace car turbo motor you will need a high flow fuel pump, Vane Air Meter and im sure theres some other stuff im missing. honestly your probably better off finding a turbo coupe donor car and doing it that way you can get if for any where from $400 - $1500 dollars and have everything that you will need, nuts bolts, harness, etc etc.

the turbo had abot 240 HP with a manual trans and the pace car motor is carbed but I own a fuel injected 93 2.3 mustang and I'm pretty sure I can swap heads to make it fuel injected and just by a turbo exhaust and intake manifold with a t3-t4 turbo and put a t5 in it as long as the pace car motor has the forged pistons the v8 thing is an idea cause I have just sitting in my garage and know the bolt in I know how to get the ho out of the turbo engine but was just curios about the.
