I have a 86 mustang with the original 2.3L engine in it. Nothing major has been done to it, except replacing the clutch (it has a manual transmission, also factory original). what would i need to do to get at least 200 or 250 hp out of it? I also am thinking about putting a T-56 transmission behind it with the highest rear end gear ratio Ford made. Tell me what your opinion is and what would I need to do it. Thanks.

I had a 2.3 with just SHY of 187 PONIES. It can be done and it is done with COMPRESSION and head work and a CAM. But with todays FUEL its a push . I did it years ago when Gas was was GAS. If you have access to 100 Octane it can be done. But its a stretch. With that said 150 is totally doable. But with the NEW profile cams i would suspect the upper HP numbers can reach app 150-160 with not to much trouble. My Turbo 2.3 makes 124 HP NA with 8.5-1 CR at 10-10.5 CR range i would say 160HP is a real easy number to obtain Peace Tom

what do you mean tom? how can you have 124hp on a turbo 2.3? even with stock pistons, rods, 5psi can easily make 160-170hp on the 2.3

tell me if i´m wrong, but a 2.3 N/A engine makes 100hp, bone stock, so, going trough all the process that involves turbocharging an engine to raise 24hp is like taking 1k$ right into trash

I think he means that without the turbo, it still makes 124 HP.
