Hi,
I have a few Mustangs, but my daily driver is a 91 LX 2.3L and it has developed what appears to be a rear main seal leak. I am getting engine oil comming out of the transmission inspection cover  . From past experience this tells me the rear main seal needs to be replaced. Does anyone know if this is a one piece seal and if it requires dropping the crank shaft to replace it? I was hoping I might be able to move the transmission out of the way and replace the seal with the engine in the car.
Anyone else come across this problem?
Thanks in advance,
Marty

I have this very job in progress. I pulled the transmission and have replaced the rear main seal with the engine still in the car. I also decided to replace the front seal of my transmission at the same time. The only problems I have run into have been working around my exhaust system while trying to remove my tranny. Other than that, the job has gone good. I have a 90 LX 5.0. Good luck to you!
