Hi, im new to this forum but i love all the info im seeing. I recently baught a car (not a mustang) that has a 2.3 turbo in it. i was wondering if there is a way to find out if it is an SVO mustang engine or not. I found the casting number on the block, Rf-E3ZE-6015-00, and any help would be awesome! thanks all.

E3 means 83, thats the first year of the turbo EFi in the thunderbirds. does it have a cap covering the mechanica fuel pump hole or is it casted part of the block? the blocks are 99% the same with very little changes throughout, the thing that really makes it a SVO is the ECM. use this website and punch in the catch code off the ecu. The TwEECer -- Ford EEC user programmable module

there is a cap covering the mech. fuel pump mount on the block. and the ecu is wrong im sure because the guy i got the car from had a non turbo ecu in it and it wouldnt run, he said he swapped it for a turbo thunderbird ecu and it runs good bot but not great, smokes alot.
Can you move to tech? Post some picture of engine etc. There was several style of 2.3 turbo, wiring, vam's and computer all have to match each other. A challenge but doable. Maybe some pictures of intake, motor etc can help. I will search on casting but have read of Ford using turbo blocks and just plugging the oil drain just to use up stock.
Now can you get the head casting Numbers. The turbo head casting number are specific. Like said move to tech more tech type guys over there may help. Maurice
