This is the plan, 98 cobra exhaust, no cats, 4.11 trac lock, aftermarket camshaft, Predator tuner and a dyno tune and whatever size wet shot of noss it will take to get to 300rwhp. I would love some cam suggestions. My goals for the cam are number 1, to have a nice choppy idle:gringreen. number 2 to not loose all torque under 2500 rpm and to work with an auto trans. If i need a stall so be it. I will not be porting the heads or intake. Am i asking too much? What do yall think?

Why would you not port the intake and heads since that will restrict any real gains from the cam? I doubt very much you'll see 300RWHP with the setup you list and no porting/polishing.

I just dont think its worth the work to port the heads and intake, i could pull them off but dont want to wait and send them off to be ported by a pro, i dont know how to port them my self and be sure they are better than when i started. When i find out what cam is best for my goals ill follow the manufacturers directions as far as heavier springs, retainers, different length pushrods, ect. I assume i can use the stock lifters as this is a roller cam engine correct? So any recommendations on specific camshafts for this set up? Sorry to all those whom ive offended by calling nitrous noss:shrug

Oh sorry didnt answer the question as to what ive done to the car so far. The answer is nothing besides the cobra exhaust and no cats. Next will come the 4.11 trac lock, then the cam and predator, then the dyno tune. Then the nitrous after I have the base line dyno number to see what size shot i need to get around 300 rwhp. Ill be swapping the cam shortly but it will be awhile before the nitrous comes into play. Ill probably do some cosmetic stuff first, just wanted any cam suggestions to take future plans into account. Thanks guys.

We need to know what type of budget you have. Stud mount rockers and guides are $450.00, hardened push rods are $100.00, springs are $150.00, and machine shop work to have the proper install height for the springs is about $50.00. But you would have to take off the heads and install new gaskets, which again bumps up the price of "just a cam" install. The cam is about $400.00 alone unless you wanted a regrind. Then while you have the heads off, you might as well P&P then and install larger valves. See, it can get expensive quickly.....

You can get a decent cam to support stock rockers and pushrods if that is the way you want to go. It will have decent bump, and help out the nitrous. It will not be as good as getting the package listed above, but it will help because the stock cam runs out quickly on nitrous. You won't have to remove the heads, just the timing cover, accessories, cam synchronizer, timing chain, and the intakes. It is not an easy job for a newbie, but it can be done with the right tools and knowledge.....

Call Tom Y at Supersix and order a cam from him. He can spec you out the right cam for your setup-whichever way you want to go.....

Oh yeah, you should have it tuned right after the cam install.....

Thanks that was what i needed to hear, the second part anyway, I'm not looking to spend $2000 before i even buy the nitrous kit. I can do the mechanic work, I just built a 460 with the new aluminum scj heads for a buddies jet boat last spring. But im not used to anything but old school flat tappet v8 engines. So i dont know how much cam i can run in a 3.8 v6 without getting into head work or killing the street ability completely. Ill check out supersix as you suggest.
