I have a 2000 v6 mustang and my door locks don't work like they should. Went I use my keypad it will unlock my driver door 20% of the time but never my passenger side. Most of the time I need to use the key in the door to unlock it and reach over and pull the handle to unlock the passenger side door. How do I fix this so when I hit lock or unlock on the door or keypad, my doors lock and unlock? I'm guessing I will need to take off the door panels but after that I'm lost. What needs to be fixed or adjusted to fix this. Also, my passenger side door has never worked, I've always had to lock it manually and unlock it buy opening the handel.

The problem is inside the door panels. Each side. There is a mechanism or actuator, or solanoid or whatever it is called that is bad. There is one for each side.. I took my panels off, cleaned the part the best i could, sprayed a little electrical contact spray then all was fine. This was a 96 GT convertible i had before the new one. The new owner still has had zero trouble with it. Your passenger side may need a new part. Again, i don't know what it is called, but, That's what i did.:smartass:

power door lock actuators...
BlackStang80 is correct. It is most likelythe door lock actuators. I had to replace my passenger side actuator on my 2000 convertible about 2 months ago. I picked up a new one from AutoZone for about $60. Once you get the interior door panel removed, you'll also have to remove the door locking mechanism (on the side of the door). Its not that difficult to fix, but re-positioning the line that leading up to your door lock pins can be a PITA. If you grab a Haynes Manual it'll give you detailed instructions (and pictures) on how to remove & replace the defective part(s).

Just got mine in the mail today, gonna grab a buddy who is more experienced at this sort of this than me (just in case) and tackle it tomorrow. My main concern is getting off the Mach one speakers without damaging anything. Good luck and wish me the same!
