OK. The other night I started the car and immediately the speedo went to 150 and the tach all the way to 9000 rpm and then they went back to zero, then the theft light kept blinking so I turned off the car restarted it, and its fine. Today it wouldnt even crank, then after the 3rd try it cranked and started and the gauges did the same thing. Then .later in the day the car would start until the 10th try or so, the guages did it again and the a/c didnt work. Then I turned it off and it all works fine again. Whats up?

I can only make a guess at that, but I would say it could be a bad ground connection, or a problem with the computer. Try disconnecting the battery for about 10 minutes and then reconnecting it, it may act a little weird after you reconnect until it relearns the parameters, but it won't hurt anything and it may take care of the problem. Again, this is just an educated guess, but other than trying to track down electrical problems with a digital meter and oscilloscope, this may be a quick fix. Also check the ground connection at the chassis and block, you may find something simple.
o and its a 5 speed if thats relavent
my gauges did that after i had the battery unplugged for a while. sounds like an electrical problem to me.
If the battery is old, have it tested. Mine started doing the same thing shortly before the original battery failed. It could also be a dirty/loose battery terminal.
i posted a thread about this a while back ... last year .. lol ... mine did the EXACT same things!! i tried the disconnecting the battery, worked for a day ... then it all started again !! i took it to a friends shop and they CLEANED the terminals on the battery with a WIRE brush... real nice and good... then they sprayed some stuff on the terminals and connections... then reconnected it.. and sprayed it on top of the connections... PROBLEM solved !! that was 9 months ago and i've NEVER had the problems again !!

i'm sry i'm not sure what they sprayed, but it's RED if that helps :) LOL but thats just what they did to mine and i've never had the problem ever again ! so.. .... good luck
