2000 Mustang GT coolant Leak?

I started smelling coolant today driving and then I noticed smoke coming from the hood.. I thought maybe it was overheating but temp guage was fine. pulled over and opened the hood I have coolant on top of the intake and splashed around soming form somewhere on motor can't see any hoses etc.. leaking. did not overheat, not coming from radiator. the coolant guage came on so I limped it home with heat on but car ran exactly the same as before the problem, without overheating. when running there is steam or smoke? coming from behind the pulleys I am thinking water pump?? but I am no mechanic. any other ideas or experiences like this.

I have had similar problems in the past,it could be the water pump or maybe a bad water hose in that area.Good luck!!!
Info

In my 98 I have a coolant line that runs down the center of the block right below the intake. I cant remember what that darn thing is called. I am not positive you have it on yours but you should. Try that one.

intake manifold, common problem too on pre 2001 Gt's
you'll need the new intake wth the aluminum x-over, a new alt brkt and some gaskets....should run @$360.00 in parts and is not that hard to change....if your not sure, you can go-to a parts store and buy a bottle of coolant system dye and that will allow you to pin-point the leak but Im 99.99% sure you'll find out it's the plastic coolant cross-over behind the alternator.......
^ Most certain your intake coolant cross-over has sprung a leak.
