Ladies and Gents,
I just received my new door lock actuators from The Car Part Warehouse at a great price ($28 each) for my 2000 Mustang. I have gotten a diagram of the door assembly from the dealer but wondering if anyone had any advice before I start to venture in and replace them. Please let me know if you've had experience with this. Appreciate it much!

Can I ask a question? What did your Actuator do or not do?

Mine act like they want to come up, but I only hear them try, they do not move about 1/32"

so, how did it turn out? i am having the same problem with my drivers side door lock. it has power to it but it just won`t go up . manually it works fine

Mine act identically, both doors. I've done extensive research recently and will be replacing them shortly. I understand there have been some 'known issues' with these actuators.

Replacement sounds pretty straight forward.

i had that problem with both doors when i got my mustang. they tried to move but just wouldnt go. i replaced both actuators and they work like new now.
i thought it was going to be a big pain to replace them but it wasnt really hard at all. i have a bit of experience so i dont know how easy it would be for the average do-it-yourselfer.
just remove door panel, the rods going to the latch inside the door, the electrical connectors, the three screws holding the latch to the inside of the door and take the assembly out. there is a clip holding the actuator onto the latch, lift up with a small screwdriver and remove. the new one looks a little different but makes it easier to install. reverse procedure to install. good luck

Ok we have another confirmed fix.
Parts came in, Here's the sinopsis:

• Door panel came off easy.
• Got real confused trying to remove the assembly, it's hard to see.
• Came back to this thread and removed all rods like I was told.
• Bing
• Bang
• Done.

Materials needed:

• (1) star bit for the three bolts visibile when you open the door
• (2) actuators for $44 shipped http://www.am-autoparts.com/AM/Door-Lock-Actuators/Ford/Mustang/1999/AM-95288171/
• (2) hours if your buddy is just watching
• (4) beers unless your buddy is also drinking
• (1) grease rag cause man I was dirty

Thanks for the info and link. My passenger doorlocks dont like to work either.

Really hoping this fixes mine as well. The Key Fob doesn't work but I can live without it for now as long as I can get the locks to reliably come up and down electrictly
