2000 V6 Grinding or Rubbing sound from front passenger

So I am a brand new second owner of a fine used 2000 mustang, today I was able to get out on the highway and do some travelling and give the new (to me) mustang a "shake down cruise". When I inspected the car from the guy I bought it from, it was a little dirty and had been sitting for a while, but it started up and ran fine, took my old man who is much more knowledgeable about engines and the like than I. Everything was good...

but today during my shake down drive, while driving I noticed a sound like a fan running or a rubbing or light grinding coming from the passenger side front end, sounded like it was coming from the wheel. car handled fine, didn't pull, brakes felt fine and didn't grind when I used them... my question is... is this normal mustang road noise? (last car i owned was a inline 4 pick up, and i couldn't even hear myself think on the highway) or is there something else going on...

I will freely admit that I am a paranoid worrywort... and could possibly just be hearing normal regular "sports" car engine noise and immediately assuming the worst.

Any feedback (that isn't calling me a paranoid freak ;) ) would be very much appreciated... thanks.

Your probably hearing the tires on the road (I'm sure you know some tires can be noisy) the firewall has basically no insulation other than the 1/8" metal it is made from, so your going to hear a lot

If you want to try and get a more precise location of where the noise is coming from get someone else to drive the car, and listen front he passenger seat since that is the side where the noise is coming from, the motor has some whine to it on it's own so that is also a possibility

right on, i read another guys post on another forum about how noisy his mustang was in comparison... its probably just new car feeling out type deal, i know when i bought my harley it took some time to get used to her.

i have driven one other mustang v6 and when i hit the accelerator i could hear what sounded like a gasp or a little whine, which is assume is a cold air intake, this mustang i have is stone stock so i guess i expected it to be a little quieter...

either way, this weekend i plan on running through the usual maintenance on a car, oil, filters, coolant, check the plugs, and get some engine degunker from schucks.

i have read about 02 sensors being a cause of issues, would i need a code reader to check those? or do i need to take it into a dealer or shop?

You said it sat for a while, right? Could your tires be dry rotted? I'd give the wheel bearings a look see also just to be on the safe side.
