I have a 2000 mustang and the dash kit for the head unit is only a single din do you think it would work to purchase a 2001-2004 double din dash kit so I could have a double din sized head unit
Go for it if you need the space. I did this to my 95 Gt and added a nav system. Turned out great and it needed no moding. Only thing was the buttons on the bottem came into new use.
I swapped my 99 out with a 03 Cobra center dash and the whole console. I am going to say it was kind of a pain. I had to rewire the foglight, traction controle and rear defroster and extend the convertible top swith and put it where the coin holder was.
2nd. was the 01-04 radio and center section of the dash has tottaly differant mounting points for the radio. I took a dremel tool and cut out the one of the Cobra and cut my factory out and epoxied it into my car and everything looks like the new model.
3rd. I had the the plastic cluster that goes around the speedometer because the 99 has the defroster switch beside the headlight switch but I will have to say it was well worth it. I like the 03-04 look and console alot nicer and now I have the leather boot cover around my e-brake..
zukman, that sounds pretty intense. I thought about getting a new dash for my car, because I want to make my interior black. How much of a pain was it, and how long did it take, for you to swap your dash?
I spent a complete day doing it. But I promise you it is worth it.I love my Cobra interior. Now if I can find a deal on a set of seats I will be good to go..
