so here's the deal.. I changed the oil in my car, and the seal on the oil filter busted while it was being driven.. all the oil drained completely out (while being driven) and ran dry for about a minute.. i towed it home and replaced the oil and filter, but now i have a tap.. i took off the valve covers yesterday and checked the lifters.. the lifters are fine and the noise is not coming from up top... its still running fine, and ive been told that it doesnt sound that bad by some mechanics i know... but idk what the heck it is.. any input??

You might have ran it so dry on oil that you have a rod bearing going bad. If the noise is coming from the bottom end thats about all it can be..
