Either choice is good, but I'd recommend a ProCharger, and I can get you into a ProCharger kit for around $4500. Just call UPR at 561.588.6630.

The boost will kick in much sooner on a roots style blower. In other words, a roots blower will make instant boost while a vortech or procharger blower dont start making boost before 2600 rpms. The result is that a roots style blower has better streatability. For a 90% street driven car, I would go with a roots style blower.

Two ways to look at it.

You could say the centrifugal has better streetability because it drives like stock until you drive it aggressively.

I describe the powerband situation like this- Let's say you shift your car at 6000 rpms... the revs drop down to about 4500 and you're back at it in the next gear. Well, the boost curve of a centrifugal is fairly flat from 4500-6000.

IOW, let's say you have a procharged 2001 GT and you nail the throttle at 2000 rpms. It might only be making 3lbs of boost down there, but at 4500 it's around 8lbs and at 6000 it's at 10 lbs. Then you shift, the revs drop down to 4500, and you're still at 8lbs, making your way back up to 10lbs.

Another way to describe it is this, with a centrifugal, JUST LIKE A PD BLOWER, you're always in the boost when you're racing.

True, a PD blower makes more boost at 2000 rpms, but you don't race at 2000 rpms.
I guess the bigger question is.........are you building a street car, or a race car? the answer to that question will determine which direction to take.

Both are good. I dont think you can go wrong with either but the lag of the centrifugal S/C helps greatly with traction also it dont hit the tires as hard. What it loses down low it will make up on the big end and the price is probably cheaper in the end. But on the other hand a 2v engine needs all the help it can get down low due to there torque less feel same
I have seen a good many races between the roots style and a centrifugal charger and the out come goes to the centrifugal most of the time they are just more efficient.
Ok thanks for the input. It's a street car mostly with maybe a few trips to the track. I'm leaning towards the roots style. What all do i need to put a 03-04 Cobra m122 on my sohc gt? Will it bolt right on or is the dohc different from sohc?

Look up a company called Tork Tech. They make a kit to adapt the M112 to PI 2V heads. It is far from inexpensive, however.

There was a guy in the 99-04 section a few years ago who did this and made a very detailed thread about it. Although he was going for more of a "show" build and spent quite a bit more on odds n' ends than what may be considered bare minimum, even with the M112 head unit itself purchased relatively inexpensively he still had a parts list (including the Tork Tech kit) totaling well past $3K.

Go in there and type "Eaton M112 on 2V", look for a thread authored by Tobynt for more info. IMO, the cheap price for a used M112 is deceptive; considering everything else involved in bolting it to a 2V you could spend the same money elsewhere and come out the other end with a much better blower setup. About the only situation I would spend my time screwing around with an M112 is if I were looking to f/i a Mach 1 on a tight budget - since it shares the same heads as a Termi the unit would bolt right up, and for the most part the only other things you'd need is fuel upgrades and a heat exchanger.
From people who go from root to turbo they miss the instant power from the root
