When turning the wheel sharp, I heard what sounded like plastic shattering in the steering column. Now the airbag light remains on all the time. The horn cover is also loose. A friend told me, it's probably just the sensor, but I'm thinking it's more than just a sensor. I don't have a clue! Any info and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Your clockspring broke. The clockspring is a coil of printed circuit that keeps the airbag hard-wired to the airbag controller. Rough estimate, 275-350 to get the clockspring replaced.

it can be possible for it to deploy... my dad just got notified of a recall on his f150 with the clockspring being defective and causing airbag deployment without cause
