ok so im about 75% sure this is a clutch/Flywheel issue.
I just bought this 2001 GT, 47.6k miles and I havn't and dont plan on beating it or driving it hard. The shift lever/Knob gets hot after driving it for alittle and it's not from my hand. i went up a hill stop and go and i heard chattering and vibration underthe shifter then it stopped. Now i hear a funny noise that almost sounds like a belt squeek. Wheen i pop the hood it sounds like it's coming from behind the block in the bellhousing. So anyone have an idea? I think it just needs a clutch but i would like some incite if possible.

That's not the clutch making the squeaking sound, its either the throwout bearing or the pilot bearing. The vibration could be the clutch or a flywheel problem. If you swap the clutch, make sure you change both the bearings as well, and at the least resurface the flywheel, its also a perfect time to go to a lightweight flywheel, which I highly recommend, often overlooked, but its a great mod. You can try to readjust the clutch cable, there should be about a 1/4" gap between the throwout bearing and the pressure plate.
