Just raced my friend a couple days ago. Devastating loss. It wasn't by much more than a car length or two but I have to say I was shocked. I got him off the start by at least a car length but his car walked off once it became headlight to headlight. His car is rediculously light though like a completely plastic body lol. Completely stock, his car is a 182 hp 3.0L v-6 and he added a muffler system and an intake. Just thought I'd let the kids like me with the v6 know that they can't beat 'em all, even if they look like a joke.

A race has many factors. I've street raced (although i am not supporting this "sport"), and there are many factors that effect the run. For example, transmissions. You have an automatic, which is less efficient than their manual counterparts for transferring power; what does your buddy have? How was your tire pressure and tread? Did you break torque? Are your plugs and wires good? Extra weight like subs or the spare tire? Did you shift manually or let the car do its thing? If you did it manually or not find out which method is faster. The list goes on. And about factory power ratings, a buddy of mine (David Woodside of Woodside motorsports, he races a thunderbird if anyone knows of him) has a 89 lx with a STOCK motor with nappa wires, motocraft plugs, and a k&n filter. He has dyno sheets but take my word for it that his mustang had 225.62 to the wheels, with 290 ft of torque. This is all before nitrous.

Learn your car, learn where you race, and be careful.

When cars are close to the same power, it's a drivers race. Get to know your car a little better, maybe do a few mods to it. And try it again, you might just beat him. I have beaten cars in the past that I shouldn't have because of the "driver mod". Never go into a race cold, always practice your methods until they are second nature. I don't race very often, most people around here don't want to, but I am always prepaired to. Haven't lost a race yet.

your car's stock up against a car that is close to mustangs in power when it's stock but he actually had modifications...so... what did you expect to happen?
