2001 V6 Mustang Clutch Cable

I am having trouble getting into first or reverse at idle. I think that it might be the clutch cable. I have made sure that the floor mat is not obstructing the travel and have reached underneath the dash and the cable feels slightly slack when the pedal is at rest. Is this something that can be adjusted?
