I'm Anthony and i'm new to this i got a 2002 mustang gt and i've replaced the starter but it wont start unless i run a hot wire from the starter to the battery

Swap the starter relay with another like relay in the relay box. IIRC the foglight relay is the same. Easy to do, doesn't cost a thing. Betcha that's going to be your problem.

Great idea to check the starter relay!!!!

First, I'm going to assume that your problem is "no crank" instead of "crank with no start".

Check fuse F2.6 in the CJB.

Your post does not state if your car is automatic or manual. What have you done to rule out the park/neutral safety (automatic) or clutch safety (manual)?

If this doesn't fix it, more tests will be needed. Do you have a VOM and are you willing to use it?

F1=BJB=Battery Junction Box-located engine bay
F2=CJB=Central Junction Box-located driver's kick panel.
